A major project for the National Maritime Museum was the refurbishment and extension of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, resulting in a new Planetarium and Astronomy Centre beneath a truncated cone.

Designed by Allies and Morrison, this project provided for challenging compliance issues associated with work carried out in an internationally important Listed Building.  A fire engineered solution requiring extensive consultation with the Fire Authority was developed and AIS helped to ensure the implementation of a functionally compliant design to achieve life safety objectives.
